New cost-effective fiber optic sensing platform gives real-time access to data allowing engineers to detect design flaws earlier

AUSTIN, TX, March 8, 2016 – Sensuron, a global provider of compact fiber optic sensing (FOS) systems, today announced the launch of Summit, the first fiber optic sensing platform to provide fully distributed sensing with the ability to combine multiple measurement technologies into a single platform. With comprehensive and real-time access to data, engineers are more readily equipped to detect design flaws earlier – saving resources, increasing efficiencies and preventing costly failures after a product has launched.

What is Compact Fiber Optic Sensing?

FOS technologies collect and analyze material and structural data based on changes in the way light moves down a fiber optic cable. FOS technologies extract environmental parameters such as strain, loads, temperature gradients, as well as deflection and 3D shape sensing when light is passed through a network of hair-thin fibers.
